JMOM – Jutlanders Against Superfluous Motorways

JMOM is a Danish environment- and traffic group, founded in 1993.

JMOM is a Danish environment- and traffic group, founded in 1993. Our name means “Jutlanders Against Superfluous Motorways” and our purpose is to highlight the disadvantages of the construction of a motorway between Århus and Herning in Jutland, Denmark. Further we wish to fortify the public debate of traffic and transport in relation to the environment.

Our opposition to the motorway is based on three counts; Another motorway will not help cut down on the private transport and the air pollution from the traffic. On the contrary, it will increase the amount of environmentally bad traffic, and put more pressure on traffic in the cities. The decision to construct the motorway has never been properly debated, and the alternative transport solutions have been ruled out from the start. The motorway is superfluous. The traffic on the present road is only half of it’s capacity – in some places even less than that.
Therefore, a light railway and improvements of the existing road will be a much better solution for people and nature in the area.
