JMOM is a Danish environment- and traffic group, founded in 1993. Our name means “Jutlanders Against Superfluous Motorways” and our purpose is to highlight the disadvantages of the construction of new motorways in Denmark. Further we wish to fortify the public debate of traffic and transport in relation to the environment.
Our opposition to the motorway is based on three counts; Another motorway will not help cut down on the private transport and the air pollution from the traffic. On the contrary, it will increase the amount of environmentally bad traffic, and put more pressure on traffic in the cities. The decision to construct motorways are never properly debated, and the alternative transport solutions are often ruled out from the start. New motorways are superfluous.Denmark is already one of the countries in the world with the most kilometres of motorway per capita.
Therefore, light rails and improvements to existing roads are examples of something that can provide better solutions for people and nature.
